EU-overleg over situatie Midden-Oosten op 15 maart (en)

Met dank overgenomen van Tsjechisch voorzitterschap Europese Unie 1e helft 2009 i, gepubliceerd op woensdag 11 maart 2009.

President of the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council and Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg has called another meeting on the current developments in the Middle East, to take place on 15 March in Brussels.

The European Union will be represented by Minister Schwarzenberg, General Secretary of the EU Council and High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana and Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner i and a representative of Sweden.

Egypt will be represented by Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit and the Palestinian National Authority by Foreign Minister Riad Malki. A representative of Jordan, whose name and office will be specified later, will also take part in the meeting.

The objective of the dinner meeting is particularly the discussion of the current situation in Palestine and the role of Egypt in mediating the Middle East negotiations.

A press conference is scheduled for 22:00 in the press hall of the EU Council building.
