Statement by the spokesperson of High Representative Catherine Ashton ahead of the meeting of EEAS Deputy Secretary General Helga Schmid with Dr. Bagheri of Iran
The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, issued the following statement today:
"In accordance with the agreement reached in Moscow on 19 June, and following the meeting of experts of the E3+3 and Iran in Istanbul on 3 July, a meeting of Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid and Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Dr. AH Bagheri will take place in Istanbul on 24 July.
In line with the Moscow agreement, this meeting will be followed by a contact between High Representative Catherine Ashton and Dr. Saeed Jalili about the prospects for a future meeting at the political level."
