Jagland re-elected to head Council of Europe

The Council of Europe parliamentary assembly on Tuesday re-elected Thorbjorn Jagland of Norway as secretary general for a five-year term with 156 votes against Germany's Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger, who got 93 votes. Jagland has led the 47-nation body since 2009. His new term starts on 1 October 2014.
