Marietje Schaake will attend the Munich Security Conference 2016

The war in Syria, the refugee catastrophe and the crisis of the European security order are among the key topics on the agenda of the 52nd edition of the Munich Security Conference, which will take place under the chairmanship of Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger from 12 to 14 February in the Bavarian capital.

Over the past five decades, the Munich Security Conference (MSC) has become the major global forum for the discussion of security policy. Each February, it brings together more than 450 senior decision-makers from around the world, including heads-of-state, ministers, leading personalities of international and non-governmental organizations, as well as high ranking representatives of industry, media, academia, and civil society, to engage in an intensive debate on current and future security challenges.

Digital security duet: making European cyber defences more resilient through PPPs

Amongst others, Marietje Schaake will moderate the European Liberal Forum round table discussion ‘Digital security duet: making European cyber defences more resilient through PPPs’.

Cyber security is high on the agenda of governments, the European Commission, and the digital industry. Therefore it is without question that the governments and the private sector have to cooperate to protect our vital infrastructure. In light of the coming proposal by the European Commission for a European public-private partnership for cyber security, this is the right time to explore the importance of this cooperation.

Round table discussion with:

Marina Kaljurand | Minister of Foreign Affairs, Estonia

Jan Neutze | Director of Cybersecurity Policy responsible for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Microsoft

Gerhard Eschelbeck| Vice President Privacy and Security Engineering, Google

Alexander Graf Lambsdorff (TBC) | MEP, Honorary President of European Liberal Forum

The Munich Security Conference is invitation only.
