The Kings Commissioner may be charged by Act of Parliament with the execution of official instructions to be given by the Government.

Please note: Only the Dutch-language version of the Constitution has legal effect.
Only a law may stipulate that the government can assign a specific task to the King's (or Queen's) Commissioner. These include, for example:
- visits to municipalities in his or her province
- the coordination of civil defence preparations
- powers in reappointment and dismissal procedures for mayors.
