The government has the task of promoting the development of the international legal order. This includes:

  • the peaceful settlement of international disputes
  • safeguarding human rights
  • good relations with other states
  • sound international legislation and compliance therewith
  • sustainable international peace and security
  • The Netherlands as host country for international courts and tribunals
