Council of Europe to elect new secretary general

The Strasbourg-based human rights watchdog Council of Europe is set to elect a new a secretary general on Tuesday (24 June) next week. The two candidates are the incumbent, Thorbjorn Jagland (from Norway), and former German justice minister Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger.
