[autom.vertaling] Gecombineerd vervoer per spoor: De Commissie machtigt Italiaanse hulp (en)

woensdag 1 oktober 2003

European Commission gave today the go-ahead to the combined transport aid scheme proposed by the Autonomous Province of Trento (Italy) to encourage the development of combined transport and reduce its access cost.

The Italian Province of Trento intends to grant subsidies to firms offering combined transport services by rail to or from the Province. The subsidies will be limited to offsetting the differences between the uncovered external costs of road transport and combined transport. They will make it possible to reduce the price paid by combined transport infrastructure users and compete with road transport on similar market conditions.

The Commission considers this aid to be compatible with competition rules. The scheme is based on a tendering procedure for the provision of railway and other services for this type of combined transport. Another important factor in the favourable assessment is that the aid is limited in time. The scheme will run for three years with a budget of € 2 million a year
