Franse premier Raffarin krijgt brief van moslim-terroristen (en)

Jean-Pierre Raffarin has received a letter from an Islamic group threatening France with terror attacks.

According to AFP, the two-page letter that purports to be from the "Servants of Allah, the Powerful and Wise", threatens France with reprisals for banning headscarves in public buildings.

The letter was sent via Le Parisien newspaper.

An investigation has now been launched and links to Chechen groups are being examined.

The letter comes as EU ministers prepare to meet on Friday to discuss how to counter the threat of terrorism on the continent.

Pooling information and closer coordination are likely to be at the top of the agenda.
