Jacques Barrot genomineerd als opvolger Michel Barnier bij de Europese Commissie voor het Regionaal Beleid (en)
The Council has nominated today Jacques Barrot as Member of the European Commission, replacing Michel Barnier. He will be responsible for regional and cohesion policy and, in particular, will make the new legislative proposals for the future of the structural funds. During his exchange of views in the Regional policy, Transport and Tourism Committee (RETT) in the European Parliament, which took place this afternoon, Jacques Barrot reiterated his European commitment and his determination to develop a strong and modern cohesion policy in the enlarged European Union. In the coming weeks, he will meet thousands of local and regional actors at the Forum on Cohesion, organised by the European Commission in Brussels on 10-11 May 2004.
