Wat had u aan de EU in 2007?
The European Commission has produced a multimedia yearbook presenting 10 of the European Union's achievements of 2007. It combines a pocket book format with video clips on the internet.
Vice-President Margot Wallström i, responsible for Institutional Relations and Communication Strategy, said: "The EU is sometimes seen as bureaucratic and detached from citizens lives. By giving real life examples, the yearbook shows how the EU makes a difference in our daily lives as consumers, travellers and workers".
'Europe and you - a snapshot of EU achievements in 2007' touches on 10 policy actions undertaken by the EU in 2007. The topics range from measures to combat climate change to providing consumers with a wider choice of goods and services at lower prices.
The aim of the multimedia approach is to reach out to a larger audience by using a mix of new and traditional ways of communicating, including the latest on the internet.
" 2007 was a the year of break-through for video-clips on EU issues. The millions of hits on the new EUtube channel went beyond every expectation and the site created a new meeting place for interaction with people from all walks of life", Vice-President Wallström stated.
The EU Yearbook 2007 is online at: ec.europa.eu/snapshot2007 where each example is presented through a short text and a video-clip.
The video-clips can also be seen on EUtube: www.youtube.com/eutube . A printed leaflet for the general public will follow shortly in all 23 official languages of the EU.
