Marian O' Leary benoemd als directeur van het Bureau voor Infrastructuur en Logistiek in Luxemburg (en)

Today the Commission appointed Ms Marian O'Leary as Director of the Office for Infrastructure and Logistics in Luxembourg (OIL), the office charged with managing the Commission's real estate portfolio, social welfare facilities and logistics services at its Luxembourg site.

In her new role, Ms O'Leary will be the legal representative and public face of the Office for Infrastructure and Logistics in Luxembourg, with responsibility for managing its staff of some 400 people, and for preparing its annual management plan and multi-annual real-estate policy framework. As Director, she will oversee the smooth running of the Office's various operations, including space allocation, building construction and maintenance, transport of personnel and equipment, mail distribution, and social facilities such as cafeterias and childcare centres.

Currently, Marian O'Leary is Director of Resources at the Commission's Directorate-General for Translation, in charge of the DG's human, financial, IT and administrative resources. She has held a number of posts since joining the Commission in 1984, among which Director of Translation responsible for the introduction of the nine languages following the 2004 enlargement, Director of Resources at Eurostat (2000–03), Head of Unit in charge of personnel at the Informatics Directorate in Luxembourg (1997–99), and administrator working on language automation projects.

Prior to her career at the Commission, Ms O'Leary was a civil servant with the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland for ten years. In this capacity, she was posted to Geneva from 1978 to 1983 as senior Irish delegate and spokeswoman to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, and chair of EC coordination on the Common Fund and the Trade and Development Board.

Marian O'Leary is 54 years of age. She will take up her new duties on 1 November 2008.
