Financieel forum: versterking financiële bijdage voor duurzame ontwikkeling (en)

Met dank overgenomen van Frans voorzitterschap Europese Unie 2e helft 2008 i, gepubliceerd op maandag 24 november 2008.

This forum aims to develop new proposals for action to put the actors of the financial industry at the service of development, social progress and the environment.

The international financial crisis raises the question of the role and functioning of the financial markets and investors' contribution to the real economy. The aim of this 'Strengthening the Contribution of Finance to Sustainable Development: Long Term Challenges, Proposals for Europe' forum, organised as part of the French Presidency by Paris EUROPLACE, the organisation responsible for promoting Paris as a financial market to international investors, in partnership with the Cercle des Economistes, is to establish a more in-depth dialogue on responsible investment, corporate social responsibility, social integration and environmental challenges. It will build on work conducted by Paris EUROPLACE on these subjects with the objective of making new recommendations for action at European level.

A number of leading European figures will address the forum, which conclude with an address from Nicolas Sarkozy, the current President of the European Council.
