Poolse minister: 'Gedegen wetgeving en sterk ondernemerschap beste aanpak crisis' (en)

Europe may overcome the ongoing crisis only thanks to the activity of entrepreneurs. Thus, we wish to create within the EU the best economic law possible, taking into account challenges related to the environment protection. Our task is among other things to ensure the best possible conditions for European industry to develop”, said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Waldemar Pawlak. In such manner, he presented Polish proposals for the session of the Informal Competitiveness Council (COMPET).

The meeting of the EU ministers competent for industrial matters on July 21 and 22 in Sopot will be attended by Vice-President of the European Commission, Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship Antonio Tajani i, Minister of Environment Andrzej Kraszewski and EU Commissioner for the Environment Janez Potocnik i.

Deputy Prime Minister Pawlak has drawn attention to the fact that Europe needs competitive industry which will cope with environmental challenges. “We will support European entrepreneurs in particular by creating conditions for investing in green technologies“, he announced.

The head od economy department underscored that the session of the Informal Competitiveness Council is the first such meeting where the directions of the Community’s industrial policy and environment protection will be subject to discussion. “We are counting on exchange of opinions concerning the future industrial policy of the EU, with the sustainable industry concept taken into account”, said the Deputy Prime Minister. “I believe that the discussion will help to find a way to make the European Union a place where good conditions for the industry and manufacturing are created and the environment is protected”, he added.

We will share our experiences and assess whether changes of evolutionary, or even revolutionary character, are necessary”, stressed the Deputy Prime Minister. “We hope that the informal debate of ministers will contribute to the development of Conclusions during formal works of the Competitiveness Council in September”, he added.

The Polish Presidency intends to focus on elements of flagship initiatives “An Integrated Industrial Policy for the Globalisation Era”, “Efficiency of Resources”, which are of crucial importance for the industry, taking into account the context of the economic downturn.
