Verklaring Hoge Vertegenwoordiger over aansluiten landen bij regels mandaat Joegoslavië-tribunaal (en)

Declaration by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries with the Council Decision 2011/422/CFSP implementing Decision 2010/603/CFSP on further measures in support of the effective implementation of the mandate of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and Council Decision 2011/421/CFSP implementing Decision 2010/145/CFSP renewing measures in support of the effective implementation of the mandate of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).

On 18 July 2011, the Council adopted Council Decision 2011/422/CFSP1 and Council Decision 2011/421/CFSP2. The Council Decisions removes persons from the lists of persons subject to restrictive measures following the arrest and transfer to the ICTY of Ratko Mladic.

This declaration is made to announce that the following countries have declared that they share the objectives of Council Decision 2011/421/CFSP and Council Decision 2011/422/CFSP:

The Candidate Countries Turkey, Croatia*, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*, Montenegro and Iceland+, the Countries of the Stabilisation and Association Process and potential candidates Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the EFTA i countries Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine, Armenia, and Georgia, align themselves with this declaration.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to these Council Decisions.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.

*  Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Montenegro continue to be part of the Stabilisation and Association Process.

+ Iceland continues to be a member of the EFTA and of the European Economic Area.
