EU foreign affairs chief Ashton has said that if it is true Iranian officers plotted to murder Saudi Arabia's ambassador in Washington it would "constitute a major breach of international law, with serious international implications." Revelation of the plot comes amid mounting pressure from the West over Iran's nuclear programme.
