Europese netwerkconferentie over migratie (en)

Met dank overgenomen van Pools voorzitterschap Europese Unie 2e helft 2011 i, gepubliceerd op maandag 17 oktober 2011.

The action taken by the governments of EU Member States to combat the illegal migration of foreigners crossing the borders of these countries will be the theme of this year's EMN conference, which will be held on 25th October in Warsaw.

One of the tasks faced by the EMN conference will be to highlight the recent activities of the EU's Frontex i Agency to coordinate projects and joint action by EU Member States and partners to strengthen security at external borders. In connection with the priorities of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council, the EMN conference will also refer to the development of initiatives in the East, including combating illegal migration.

The topics of the meeting are also closely linked with the European Migration Network study entitled ‘Practical aspects of reducing the scale of illegal migration’, on which work should be completed in the second half of 2011. The conference will also be an excellent forum for exchanging information and views on the study devoted to the practical dimension of the fight against illegal migration in EU Member States, for which information has been prepared and data collected by all the EMN National Contact Points.

Due to the presence of representatives of institutions dealing with migration issues, it will be a forum to exchange views on the achievements and difficulties in combating illegal migration in Europe, as well as an opportunity to discuss the current situation in the Mediterranean region and the activities of the Eastern Partnership.

The organiser of the conference is the National Contact Point for the European Migration Network (EMN NCP PL).
