Frankrijk lanceert 'Europees Jaar van actief ouder worden en solidariteit tussen generaties' (en)

The launch of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations in France took place on February 28th at the premises of the ministries of Work, Employment and Health in Paris.

The event was an opportunity for a large number of stakeholders involved in active ageing to discover projects carried out in this field and give visibility to their own best practices.

Moderated by Pierre-Antoine Ullmo, four debates were held around the main themes of the European Year: active ageing and the labour market; ageing in good health and independent living; social participation and solidarity between generations. In each of these sessions, several organisations were invited to express their view on the subject, followed by a fruitful dialogue and exchange of experiences with the audience.

At the end of the day, many personal stories had been shared, generating an inspiring panel on how energy, will and generosity can contribute to make a better world for all generations.

All speakers and participants were reminded that the EY commitments are a way to continue to communicate about their experience.

The Generation@school project, a unique initiative to organise exchanges between generations at schools, was also presented.

The conference was inaugurated by Marie-Anne Montchamp, Secretary of State in charge of Solidarity and Social Cohesion, and Anne Houtman, Head of the EC Representation in Paris.
