Industriële productieprijzen in januari 2012 gestegen met 0,7% in eurozone (en)
In January 2012, compared with December 2011, the industrial producer price index1 rose by 0.7% in both the euro area2 (EA17) and the EU272. In December 20113 prices fell by 0.2% in both zones.
In January 2012 compared with January 2011, industrial producer prices gained 3.7% in the euro area and 4.4% in the EU27.
These figures come from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
Monthly comparison
In January 2012, compared with the previous month, prices in total industry excluding the energy sector increased by 0.3% in both the euro area and the EU27. Prices in the energy sector rose by 2.2% and 2.1% respectively. Durable consumer goods gained 0.5% in the euro area and 0.3% in the EU27. In both zones, intermediate goods increased by 0.4%. Capital goods increased by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.2% in the EU27. Non-durable consumer goods rose by 0.2% and 0.3% respectively.
Among the Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in the total index were recorded in Greece (+2.8%), Latvia and Portugal (both +2.3%) and Malta (+1.9%), and the lowest in Slovenia (0.0%), Denmark and the United Kingdom (both +0.3%).
Annual comparison
In January 2012 compared with January 2011, prices in total industry excluding the energy sector increased by 1.9% in the euro area and by 2.3% in the EU27. Prices in the energy sector gained 9.2% and 9.5% respectively. Non-durable consumer goods rose by 3.0% in the euro area and by 3.5% in the EU27. In both zones, durable consumer goods increased by 2.4%. Intermediate goods gained 1.6% in the euro area and 2.0% in the EU27. Capital goods rose by 1.3% and 1.5% respectively.
Among the Member States for which data are available, the largest increases in the total index were observed in Latvia (+10.3%), Lithuania (+9.2%) and Cyprus (+8.7%), and the smallest in Slovenia (+1.9%), Slovakia (+2.5%) and Malta (+2.6%). A decrease was recorded in Sweden (-0.6%).

Euro area and EU indices refer to overall weighted price changes. The figures are not adjusted. Missing observations from Member States for recent months are estimated for the calculation of the euro area and the EU.
