Prime Minister Enda Kenny i says voting in favour of the fiscal compact treaty on 31 May will secure Ireland's role in the eurozone i and give the country access to the EU's long term bailout fund, the ESM i. Others, such as socialist MEP Paul Murphy, believe a Yes vote would put generations of Irish people in austerity "bondage." The Berlin-pushed treaty, enshrining balanced budgets in national law, has unleashed a furious debate in political circles. But those on the streets of Dublin know little about it.
