Frankrijk organiseert event om aandacht te vragen voor solidariteit tussen generaties (en)

In an effort to propose ways in which young and older people might work together to respectively find their place in society and feel less isolated from it, the conference organised by France Bénévolat in Paris on 4 December 2012 encouraged participants to look at age from a new perspective, as well as recognise seniors as full-fledged actors of "cohesion", instead of "costs" to society.

The event was especially organised as a Seniorforce Day, an initiative promoted by the European Commission within the framework of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, and placed particular emphasis on the contribution of seniors to volunteering: France has 18 million volunteers, of which 1 out of 4 are over 65.

Opened by Michèle Delaunay, Minister Delegate for Elderly People and Adult Care, attached to the Minister of Social Affairs and Health, the conference invited intergenerational stakeholders to debate around concrete examples, and also offered a preview of the film "On est tous le vieux de quelqu’un" (We're all older than someone), as well as a presentation of the intergenerational website www.solidages21.org
