'Burgermuur' met foto's op groot treinstation in Brussel toont belangrijkste waarden voor Europeanen (en)

A unique project showing what values matter to Europeans has been turned into a real-life wall in Brussels. To mark the European Year of Citizens this year, the EP invited its fans on Facebook to help construct a virtual citizens wall by submitting photos of themselves and selecting a colour to indicate which value is important to them: freedom, protection, solidarity or gender equality. A real version of the virtual wall has now been built in Brussels at one of Europe's largest rail stations.
The Facebook initiative proved so popular that the necessary 450 photos were uploaded long before the deadline was due to expire. Facebook fans were asked to show what value is the most important to them on our citizens wall by selecting a colour for their picture: freedom (green), protection (blue), solidarity (yellow) and gender equality (purple). Three of the participants have been picked at random to travel to Brussels to see the real-life version of the wall, which will be shown at Gare du Midi in Brussels from 15 April until 17 April.
The wall is part on an ongoing campaign to remind people what rights they enjoy as European citizens and the common values we share in Europe.
