Prioriteiten Litouws voorzitterschap tijdens EU-VS top (en)
On 14 June in Dublin, at the European Union (EU) and the United States (US) Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial meeting the Minister Dailis Alfondas Barakauskas presented the home affairs area priorities of the upcoming Lithuanian Presidency i of the EU Council: the implementation of Stockholm Programme, effective management of the EU external border, cyber security and fight against terrorism and organized crime.
During the EU-US ministerial meeting, new cooperation opportunities for mobility and migration, US immigration reform, counter-terrorism, future priorities of the EU-US Working Group on cyber security were discussed. As Cyber security topic increasingly becomes relevant at international level, it deserves more space on the EU agenda.
At the informal ministerial meeting of EU Justice and Home Affairs 2013 July 18-19 in Vilnius it is scheduled to discuss the critical and other important infrastructure protection and the fight against cyber crime issues. Cyber security issues also will be included into the agenda of the EU and Eastern Partnership Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial meeting taking place in Luxembourg on the 7-8 October.
Dublin meeting was attended by the EU Commissioners Cecilia Malmström and Viviane Reding, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security and the U.S. Attorney General, as well as various European agencies and institutions concerned.
