At the meeting in Kaunas the greatest attention will be distinguished to one of the Lithuanian Presidency priorities - Social dimension of Economic and Monetary Union issue. Social dimension is the revolving initiative of the President of the European Council Van Rompuy, proposing the integrated Employment and social dimension policy both accelerating recovery of the economic growth and allowing helping the crisis victims and the ones badly adapting to the economical environment.
Hopefully, following this and all the other meetings on social dimension issue, in Lithuanian Presidency period Lithuania will generalize Member States positions on this issue and will join to the possible common opinion-forming.
Employment Committee and Social Protection Committee perform an eminently important role in analysing, recommending, preparing the material, offering various decisions in the area of social policy. All of them are discussed unreserved by EPSCO yearly. Acknowledging the importance of the cooperation of these Committees Lithuania has decided to organize an informal common meeting of both Committees. Each EU country has constant representatives in these Committees - in this way assuring continuity and consistency of these issues.
