Over the last few years, tragic gun attacks in Europe have repeatedly caught our attention - in Norway, Belgium, Finland, France or Italy to mention a few. Despite efforts at international, EU and Member States level, more can be done to address vulnerabilities across the whole lifespan of firearms.

Today the Commission presents suggestions for how to reduce gun violence in Europe. It identifies actions at EU level, through legislation, operational activities, training and EU funding, to address the threats posed by the illegal use of firearms.
