Europese politie-, douane- en grensbewakingsbeambten bijeen in Brussel (en)
On 21-22 October this year the Police and Customs Cooperation Centres (PCCC) conference is taking place in Brussels. It is the fourth annual meeting of the European Union (EU) law enforcement institutions (police, customs, and border guard service), which is organized by the European Commission in cooperation with the Presiding country.
PCCC centres are established with a view to observing the international criminality in strategically important areas; they also perform reconnaissance and provide assistance to law enforcement services.
At the present time there are over 40 centres functioning in Europe, thus, it is important to encourage their cooperation as well as the effective exchange of information and good practice.
The aim of the present conference is to renew the Police and Customs Centres manual and the guidelines. The exchange initiative of the PCCC employees and the European Police Office (Europol) platform, enabling the PCCC experts to exchange good practice, will be presented at the meeting. Moreover, ways in which EUROPOL and FRONTEX could benefit from PCCC centres, and vice versa - how PCCC could benefit from the abovementioned agencies will also be discussed.
Representatives of the European Police College (CEPOL), Eurojust, Europol and FRONTEX will also attend the meeting. The event will be led by the Data Protection and Information Exchange Working Group (DAPIX) of the Council of the EU. The meeting will be chaired by the representative of the Lithuanian police - Jelena Kolesnikova.
