Debat over toekomstige uitdagingen en prioriteiten van beleidsterrein Binnenlandse Zaken (en)

Home Affairs policies have undergone a profound transformation during the last two decades. This has happened as a consequence of the successive changes introduced to the EU Treaties but also due to an increasing need for a more European approach. Over the years, the Union has been able to develop a common legislative framework for our policies and build up its own expertise and know-how to support operational cooperation and joint operations. The EU has also provided financial support and allowed for burden sharing between Member States. These achievements contributed to building a common European culture oriented towards a safer and more open Europe for the benefit of all EU citizens as well as third country nationals.

The Stockholm Programme, which framed Home Affairs policies in the years 2010 to 2014, will soon come to an end. It is therefore time to consider the future challenges and priorities to be addressed by these policies in the coming years. The Commission has initiated a reflection process. You are now invited to submit your contributions to the debate on the future agenda for Home Affairs policies until the 12 January 2014.
