Does Europe hold the answer for Northern Ireland's young people?
Northern Ireland's economy has been badly hit by the global recession; it currently has the highest unemployment rate in the UK. As globalisation ceases to stop, are the young people of Northern Ireland being left behind? The European Parliament is hosting an evening of debate, on 4 April, to discuss what could be done for Northern Ireland and questions if Europe indeed has the answer?
The event will be held at Queen's University, Belfast, with key speakers including: Chief Executive of Young Enterprise Northern Ireland, Carol Fitzsimons, CEO of NIIRTA, Glyn Roberts, and from Queen's University Student Union Cieran Ghallager.
The evening will cover questions that should be asked when the people of Northern Ireland go to vote in the European Elections in May, such as:
-
-Could the European Union help Northern Ireland’s young unemployed? Or should Europe get out of the way?
-
-Do local politics still dictate Northern Ireland's economic fortunes; or is there a global solution for the future?
-
-Could Northern Ireland provide the entrepreneurs needed to build the next Silicon Valley?
