French gendarmes under EU flag arrive in Bangui

French lieutenant-colonel Francois Guillerme has said 55 French gendarmes have arrived in Bangui in the first deployment of the EU's peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic, AFP reports. The mission, backed by 12 EU states and Georgia, is to have 600 or more personnel when fully operational.
