European Parliament approves new data protection supervisor

The European Parliament on Thursday approved Giovanni Buttarelli as the next European data protection supervisor. His deputy will be Poland's data protection chief Wojciech Rafal Wiewiorowski. Buttarelli is replacing Peter Hustinx i who is retiring after having served in the post for more than ten years.
