Jennifer Baker presents EU Tweets of the Week, looking at the good, the bad and the ugly in the European Union Twittersphere this week:

  • Most-debated: Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis’ glamour photo shoot ridiculed in social media. Further controversy when a video showing him “giving the finger” to Germany went viral.
  • The good: top-level EU officials made a strong impression as they participated in the #Socksbattle4DS Twitter campaign to promote World Down Syndrome Day
  • The bad: #blockupy - violent protests mar the opening of the new European Central Bank building in Frankfurt
  • The ugly: after 10 days’ absence the twittersphere asked #WhereIsPutin? But rest easy, Putin reappeared on an official visit to Kyrgyzstan.
