€35 million in fake money discovered last year

The European Central Bank withdrew from circulation 838,000 counterfeit banknotes last year, for a record total amount of €35 billion, it said in its annual report on Monday (20 April). €20 and €50 notes are the most faked. More than 17 million real euro banknotes are currently in circulation.
