Ireland to participate in first EU rescue mission

Ireland is to participate for the first time in an EU search and rescue mission. The government has decided to send a fully-crewed ship to the Mediterranean to help with the rescue of migrants fleeing north Africa, reports the Irish Times. The ship could be dispatched within weeks.
