Presidents Juncker and Tusk condemn Paris attacks ahead of G20 in Antalya

Commission President Juncker and the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk give a joint press conference ahead of G20 condemning Paris attacks and urging global response to resolve refugee crisis.

“It is imperative to see that those who organised the attacks and perpetrated them are precisely the ones the refugees are trying to flee,” Commission President Jean Claude Juncker said at a joint press conference with European Council President Donald Tusk condemning the brutal Paris attacks ahead of the meeting of G20 leaders in Antalya.

President Juncker warned leaders, both in Europe and at the G20, that the Paris attacks should not deter countries from protecting and relocating refugees on their territories.

“This is a global problem which invites us to give a global answer.”

At the press conference, the President also urged progress on reforms to global tax policy and a legally-binding climate deal in Paris in December.

The two leaders' statements followed talks wih the Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull where both sides agreed to finalise the EU-Australia Framework Agreement and to work towards the launch of a Free Trade Agreement.

In a statement both sides condemned the Paris attacks and affirmed their determination to defend common freedoms and values to jointly to drive the counter-terrorism agenda, including in the G20.
