France puts brakes on EU-US trade deal

France on Tuesday said it won't back an EU-US free trade deal that lowers standards on health and the environment, reports AFP. The move adds to the mounting public backlash over negotiations, making it increasingly unlikely that the two sides will finalise a pact before the end of the year.
