High Level Group of Innovators offer key recommendations on a European Innovation Council
The independent High-Level Group of Innovators today published a report titled 'Europe is back: Accelerating breakthrough innovation' outlining their views on how a European Innovation Council (EIC) should fund and nurture breakthrough innovation from start-up to scale-up.
More flexible financing was recommended, such as awarding grants, loans and equity investments in combination, therefore adapting to the needs of the innovator. Further developing partnerships and networks and the leveraging of European ecosystems was recommended, to boost the scaling-up of innovative companies.
Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas i, has shown his support for the advice of the Group by presenting the report to French President Emmanuel Macron i at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
