The informal meeting of EU Ministers responsible for Culture will take place in Sofia on 28 February 2018. The motto of the meeting is “Culture - an inclusive value for the EU”.

The meeting will be chaired by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr Boil Banov and will be structured in two working sessions. The first question in the focus of discussions will be how to work better together with colleagues from different policy areas to enhance culture as a factor for strengthening the sense of belonging to Europe. During the second session ministers will discuss the ways to harness the energy and potential of young people in preserving and developing European values through culture.

The meeting will be attended by Mr Tibor Navracsics i, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport and Ms Petra Kammerevert i, President of the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education.

The ways of creating conditions for the development of culture, promoting intercultural dialogue and strengthening the “Creative Europe” programme will also be among the topics which will be discussed during the informal meeting of Ministers responsible for Culture.

The ministers and the delegates will discover the “Salon of museums”, which is part of the cultural programme of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and showcases a special selection of museum collections of 40 metropolitan and regional museums and galleries.
