Sustainable wrapping paper made from Slovenian tomato stems and a book cover from Slovenian wood

The main partner of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU is Radeče papir nova, d.o.o., where generations of local papermakers use modern technological solutions and digital processes in their work. Sustainable development is an essential part of their production for all kinds of paper, paper supplies for schools and modular wallpapers. The company has provided paper supplies for the Slovenian Presidency and the printing of the gift recipe book, the cover of which is made from Slovenian wood and which is equipped with a special NFC chip.

The wrapping for promotional gifts is also made from paper, more specifically from stems of Slovenian tomato. This packaging was made at the Pulp and Paper Institute, which invests significantly in research on waste, unused biomass resources and the development of their own products from locally available sources. They combine interdisciplinary knowledge to develop competitive products based on biomass for different industries, from the paper and packaging industry to the construction industry.

Secure communication

Telekom Slovenije, d. d. is the leading Slovenian provider of communications solutions, continuously introducing innovative technologies. In 2020 it was the only provider to set up the fifth-generation network (5G) in Slovenia. Development of communication technology goes hand in hand with security solutions.

Two Slovenian companies that rank among the leading companies in this field will provide their services during the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU. Biokoda, d. o. o., which is focused mainly on building security software solutions, has made 700 Biocoded Private Cloud Enterprise licences available to the Slovenian Presidency. It provides the strongest possible security measures and is ready to grow and adapt to today's complex cyber threats.

Cifra komunikacijski sistemi, d. o. o. develops, installs and maintains secure information and communications systems and is one of the top and most experienced Slovenian companies in the area of secure professional devices and cryptographic software. High-quality drinking water and gluten-free beer

At Slovenian Presidency meetings in Brussels, delegates will be able to refresh themselves with water and juices from Dana. The company, which also produces syrups and spirits, constantly seeks new technological solutions, introduces new flavours and packaging and adapts to the modern consumer who cares for the natural environment and leads a healthy lifestyle. Despite globalisation and operation in international markets, they invest significantly in the local community. Their innovative product - special still drinking water Svetla will also be available at meetings in Brussels.

Slovenia boasts drinking water of exceptional quality. At meetings at Brdo pri Kranju, visitors and delegates will be able to drink such water from unique black stoneware glasses featuring the Vače Situla motif, handmade by ceramics designer Polona Zajc. Drawing on a thousand-year history of growing buckwheat, the company Dr. Orel was the first in Slovenia to produce 100% buckwheat beer - Dr. Orel beer. Dr. Orel was the one who came up with the idea to brew gluten-free beer. Since buckwheat is not an established raw material for beer production, they had to radically change the standard technological processes of malting. How they did this, remains a secret. During the Slovenian Presidency, their buckwheat beer will be offered at receptions at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Slovenia to the EU in Brussels.
