A meeting of the Czech government tomorrow looks set to decide who will be Prague's man or woman in Brussels.

The Czech Prime Minister, Vladimir Spidla, made it clear at the weekend that former environment minister Milos Kuzvart is the only candidate to become the Czech Republic's first European Commissioner, but some of his coalition partners disagree.

The Freedom Union-DEU has said they believe that "there are better candidates".

Pavel Telicka, the former Czech chief EU negotiator, now the Czech ambassador to the EU has been tipped as their party's candidate.

Another governmental party, the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) see their own candidate, Ivana Janu, a judge of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in the post.

Prague is set to discuss the issue on Tuesday, according to CTK.
