Extraordinary meeting of the EESC Employers' Group

YES to an enlarging Europe that opens itself to the world

On 10 April 2008, the Employers' Group (Group I) of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) will hold an extraordinary meeting entitled: "YES to an enlarging Europe that opens itself to the world". The Event will be organised in cooperation with the Polish Confederation of Private Employers (PKPP) Lewiatan and under the patronage of the Municipality of Cracow and will be attended by more than 100 participants.The conference will be opened by Mrs Henryka Bochniarz, the President of the Polish Confederation of Private Employers Lewiatan and Mr Henri Malosse, the President of the Employers' Group of the EESC.

The Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Mr Waldemar Pawlak will speak about the consequences of enlarging Europe both to the EU enterprises and the EU Society. His intervention will be followed by a panel discussion with a participation of many representatives of Polish and international enterprises as well as Members of the EESC.

Mr Jacek Krawczyk, Vice-President of the EESC Employers' Group and the Vice-President of the PKPP Lewiatan, Prof. Jacek Majchrowski, the Mayor of the City of Cracow and Prof. Karol Musio?, Rector of Jagiellonian University will give the welcoming speeches. The session will be concluded by Mr Henri Malosse.

It is an institutional consultative body established by the 1957 Treaty of Rome. Its consultative role enables its members, and hence the organisations they represent, to participate in the Community decision-making process. The Committee has 344 members, who are appointed by the Council of Ministers.
