Eduardo Ruiz García benoemd als Secretaris-generaal Europese Rekenkamer (en)

Eduardo Ruiz García has been appointed Secretary-General of the European Court of Auditors, with effect from 16 March 2009.

Mr. Ruiz García currently holds the position of Director of Finance and Administration at the European Court of Auditors, having previously served as Head of Unit - Audit Development and Audit Reports, Head of the Private Office of the President, Principal Auditor - Development Cooperation and Auditor - European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF).

A Spanish national, born in Aguilas, Murcia in 1960, Mr. Ruiz García graduated from the University of Valencia with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in financial audit. He began his professional career with the Regional Government of Valencia as an Advisor in the Technical Office of the President, before being appointed Head of Unit in its Finance Departement.

The Secretary-General is the Court’s most senior member of staff. Appointed for a renewable term of 6 years, he is responsible for the management of the Court's staff and for the administration of the Court. In addition, the Secretary-General is responsible for the budget, translation, training and information technology.

Mr. Ruiz García will be the 5th Secretary-General of the Court since its establishment in 1977, following the distinguished service rendered by Messrs Patrick Everard, Edouard Ruppert, Michel Hervé and John Speed (ad interim).
