Mr Eoin O’Shea appointed Member of the European Court of Auditors i

Following his nomination by the Irish authorities, Mr Eoin O’Shea has been appointed a Member of the European Court of Auditors as of 31 March 2010. In accordance with the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, the appointment was made by the Council of the European Union, after consultation with the European Parliament.

Mr O’Shea replaced Mrs Máire Geoghegan-Quinn i who was appointed Member of the European Commission and whose mandate at the Court was not due to expire until 29 February 2012. Mr O’Shea’s term at the Court will run until that date.

Mr O’Shea will be formally sworn in at the Court of Justice of the European Union in due course
