Zweed Wessberg nieuwste lid Europese Rekenkamer (en)

Following his nomination by the Swedish authorities, Mr H.G. Wessberg has been appointed Member of the European Court of Auditors (ECA) for the period from 10 June 2011 to 29 February 2012. In accord with the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, the appointment was made by the Council of the European Union, after consultation with the European Parliament.

Mr Wessberg replaces Lars Heikensten, who has left the ECA to become Executive Director of the Nobel Foundation. After the end of this truncated term, H.G. Wessberg can be re-appointed for a subsequent mandate of six years. Born on 26 April 1952 in Gothenberg, Sweden, Mr Wessberg has extensive experience in public service, both as a politician and as a civil servant. His latest appointments were those of Secretary of State at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister's Office.

The Court has assigned Mr Wessberg to Chamber III - External Actions.
