Minister for European Affairs Nicolai Wammen lectures on EU largement at Aarhus University
The door is ajar for a number of countries' membership of the EU, but what are the prospects of the new countries' accession and what does it means for the countries to join and for the EU to have more members? Those are some of the questions that will be debated when Minister for European Affairs Nicolai Wammen lectures at Aarhus University together with Professor Philipp Schröder and Associate Professor Derek Beach.
The process of welcoming new members to the EU poses a number of opportunities and challenges and the Danish EU Presidency would like to encourage the debate on these questions and invites to a public lecture on 7 May at 15 at Aarhus University, where Minister for European Affairs Nicolai Wammen will give his views on the EU's enlargement policy.
The Minister for European Affairs’ speech follows after two short introductions to the subject by Professor Philipp Schröder from the Department of Economics and Associate Professor Derek Beach from the Department of Political Science. Afterward the audience is invited to participate in the debate.
About the lecture series.
The lecture is the fourth in a series on some of the challenges facing Europe today. Behind the initiative are the Danish EU Presidency, the European Commission, and Aarhus and Copenhagen University where the lectures take place.
Each lecture has a theme that prominent speakers from Denmark and Europe will address be-fore the audience is invited to participate in the debate. A full length video will subsequently be included in the Presidency’s Online University for those who are unable to attend. The online University is also the place to keep updated on upcoming lectures in the series.
