Contact Committee Meeting 2015: Riga, 18-19 June
The Contact Committee of the Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the European Union and the European Court of Auditors (the Contact Committee) meets annually to give its members the opportunity to discuss relevant matters - focused around EU financial management issues - and to agree, as needed, on joint activities when these can have a greater impact.
This year’s meeting, which will be held in Riga on 18-19 June 2015, is hosted and chaired by the SAI of Latvia. Representatives of the EU candidate countries (Albania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey), along with representatives of SIGMA, the INTOSAI Development Initiative and EUROSAI, have been invited to participate as active observers, as is the tradition.
The main themes on the agenda are:
• a seminar on the European Fund for Strategic Investments, with keynote presentations by Burkhard Schmidt, Acting Director, ECFIN L, European Commission, and Nicholas Jennett, Director, New Products and Special Transactions, European Investment Bank;
• two parallel sessions: one on preventing and combatting irregularities and fraud, and cooperation with law enforcement institutions; the other on the 2014-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework;
• the activities of the Contact Committee and its professional partners.
