Lampedusa 'hotspot' fully operational

EU officials on Wednesday said the so-called "hotspot" scheme is fully operational in the Italian island of Lampedusa. Hotspots screen and fingerprint arriving asylum seekers in Greece and Italy. Those granted international protection are relocated to other member states. Greece is to have its first hotspot up-and-running this week.
