Council appoints five Members of the European Court of Auditors

​Today, 21 April, the Council of the European Union appointed five Members of the European Court of Auditors (ECA) for the period from 7 May 2016 to 6 May 2022:

  • Jan Gregor (Czech Republic)
  • Mihails Kozlovs (Latvia)
  • Samo Jereb (Slovenia)
  • Ladislav Balko (Slovakia)

The Members have been appointed on the basis of the proposals by their respective Member States and after consultation with the European Parliament.

The terms of office of the ECA Members are renewable. The treaty requires them to perform their duties in complete independence and in the general interest of the European Union.

The College of the ECA Members, in its new composition, will meet in the coming weeks to determine the chambers to which the new Members will be assigned and their specific duties. The date of their swearing-in at the European Court of Justice will be announced in due course.
