Eurogroup, 24/05/2016 - Agenda highlights
Meeting information
Draft annotated Eurogroup agenda, 24 May 2016
Economic situation in the euro area
The Eurogroup will exchange views on the economic situation and the outlook in the euro area, following the Commission's presentation of its spring 2016 economic forecast, published on 3 May 2016.
According to the forecast, GDP growth in the euro area is expected to remain modest in 2016 and 2017. Weaker international trade and subdued global growth are among the main factors that are determining slower growth.
Although unemployment remains high in some countries, it is continuing to fall, mainly due to labour market reforms. Government deficits and debt are also expected to continue to decline.

Greece: state of play
The institutions will inform ministers on the state of play of the implementation of Greece's ESM economic adjustment programme, particularly on the issues related to the first review. This includes a mechanism for contingency measures, which would be triggered if needed to ensure the achievement of agreed fiscal targets, and the implementation of prior actions.
The Eurogroup Working Group will report on the progress of its discussions on the sustainability of Greece's public debt, in line with the guiding principles and a sequenced approach for possible additional debt-related measures agreed by the Eurogroup on 9 May.
