Council appoints Rimantas Šadžius (Lithuania) new ECA Member

On Thursday 16 June, the Council of the i EU appointed Rimantas Šadžius as the Lithuanian Member of the European Court of Auditors i for the six-year period from 16 June 2016 to 15 June 2022.

The College of ECA Members, in its new composition, will meet in the coming weeks to decide on the chamber to which Mr Šadžius will be assigned and his specific duties. An updated organisation chart will be published on the ECA website in due course.

ECA Members are appointed by the Council on the basis of proposals by their respective Member States and after consultation with the European Parliament.

The Members’ terms of office are renewable. The Treaty requires them to perform their duties in complete independence and in the general interest of the European Union.
