Klaus-Heiner Lehne elected President of the European Court of Auditors

The 28 Members of the European Court of Auditors i today elected Klaus-Heiner Lehne i as President for a renewable three-year term.

When he assumes his post as the 11th President of the European Court of Auditors (ECA) on 1 October 2016, Mr Lehne, a German national, will take over from Vítor Caldeira of Portugal.

Mr Caldeira has been President since 2008 and is to become President of the Portuguese Court of Auditors on the same date.

Mr Lehne became a Member of the ECA in 2014 and has been responsible for audits in the area of external action.

Born in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1957, Klaus-Heiner Lehne has served as a Member of the German Parliament (Bundestag) and of the European Parliament.
